Luxor Temple
If you’re on a Luxor Temple day trip, you’ll get to see this historic ancient site. The Temple of Luxor is situated in the Valley of the Kings, just across the Nile from the Winter Palace. It was built around 1400BC and dedicated to the god Amon. You can also take a Nile Cruise to see more of Luxor. If you have enough time, consider taking a tour rather than driving yourself.
Before you visit the Temple, be sure to pay a visit to Medinet Habu temple, which is located in Luxor city. It’s open from 6 AM until 5 PM daily. You can also visit Howard Carter House, the former home of the British archeologist who discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb. While visiting the Temple, be sure to plan your trip around the hours that the temple is open.
Edfu Temple
One of the highlights of a Nile cruise is a day trip to Edfu Temple. This ancient temple is located in a small town between Luxor and Aswan and is best seen at sunrise or sunset. Nearly all Nile cruise ships make stops in Edfu. Your guide will explain the history of this site and will pick you up at your Aswan hotel. You’ll have a chance to see the Temple of Horus, the falcon-headed god of revenge.
Initially, the temple was part of an ancient town, though the site was expanded in the 19th century. Some houses were built on top of the sand-covered temple. Some of these buildings are now gone, but some are still standing. Excavations continue to uncover what once was the temple’s surrounding buildings. The temple complex was several meters below modern ground level. The temple was used to be the center of the town, but many of its buildings were buried in the sand.
Kom Ombo temple
When you take a day trip to Kom Ombo temple in Egypt, you will experience the unique beauty of ancient Egyptian culture. The temple stands 47 kilometers north of Aswan, 168 kilometers south of Luxor, and is home to a unique Egyptian temple. The Great Temple of Kom Ombo is an iconic sight of Egypt, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris. The temple is over 2000 years old and is covered in mysterious hieroglyphics.
The tour will start with a pickup from your Aswan hotel by an Egyptologist guide. From there, you will explore the ancient sanctuaries of Edfu and Kom Ombo. After lunch, you’ll visit the Edfu temple, a falcon-headed temple dedicated to the god Horus. The tour includes entrance fees and an Egyptologist guide. You can choose to return to your hotel in Luxor after your tour.
Aswan High Dam
A Day trip to Aswan High Dam in Egypt is an excellent way to experience the beauty of this area and its ancient culture. Built by several Egyptian governments, the High Dam is the 2nd largest dam in the world. However, the dam did not spare Egypt’s many ancient attractions, like the Abu Simbel and Philae temples. You can still see these two ancient temples on the same day as your Aswan High Dam tour.
For those who are interested in history, the High Dam is a must-see while visiting Aswan. It is a man-made lake that was built in 1971 by Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser. The High Dam was constructed to protect Egypt from severe droughts and annual flooding of the Nile River. It was designed to store water for irrigation and power, and it has a rich history and cultural heritage.
